                                           Adult Summer Reading Club

                The Adult Summer Reading Club continues with registration in person,

                online at www.capelibrary.org or by phone at 334-5279.  Read for fun

                and  prizes.  Club rules may be picked up at the Information Desk. Last

                day for the Reading Club is Saturday, September 11.

Fighting Back Against Cancer

Gail Ingham, an ovarian cancer survivor of 25 years, will share how she fought back against cancer mentally, physically and nutritionally.  Her book Surviving Cancer :  You Too Can Fight Back will be available for purchase at a cost of $15.  Part of  the proceeds from book sales will go toward special projects sponsored by the Friends of  the Cape Girardeau Public Library Foundation. The program will be held in the Geraldine Hirsch Community Room and is free and open to the public.  No registration required.

 

Beginner's Guide to Facebook

Tuesday, August 24 from 6:30-8:00 p.m., you may take the opportunity to create a Facebook account and learn how to find "Friends".  Privacy issues will also be addressed.  Registration is required.  Sign up by Monday, August 23.  You must have a personal e-mail account already in use to participate.

 

Criminal Cases of the Secret Service

Paul Nenninger will intrigue the audience with Criminal Cases of  the Secret Service : Counterfeiting, Treasury Check Cases, Fraud and Task Force Cases.  Nenninger has first hand experience as a former Secret Service agent in dealing with crimes perpetrated against the U. S. government. The program will be Tuesday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Oscar Hirsch Community Room. Free and open to the public with no registration required.

 

Harte/Syler Give Cookbook Program

Tom Harte and Georganne Syler show a variety of cookbooks and discuss them, identifying at least one recipe in each that makes it worthwhile.  Hints as to things to look for when selecting a cookbook will be given. There will be a recipe demonstration and samples. Copies of  Harte's Stirring Words will be available for purchase. Meet in the Oscar Hirsch Community Room, Saturday, August 14 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00  p.m.  Free and open to the public.  No registration required.

 

Monday Night Book Club

The Monday Night Book Club will meet again on Monday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Penzel Conference Room.  The title for discussion is The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. If  you need aid in securing a book come by the Information Desk for assistance.  No registration required.  Free and open to the public.
