The Youth Services Department offers a variety of materials and programs to serve children and their families: 

       

  • A comprehensive and current selection of fiction and non-fiction books
  • Audio-books (books on cassette, books on CD, picture book & tape sets)
  • Family-friendly videos and dvds
  • Circulating software for education and entertainment
  • Magazines for reading, crafting, and learning
  • 4 Internet-access computers for homework and gaming
  • 2 computers featuring Magic School Bus games (without Internet-access)
  • Classroom resources for teachers and home educators
  • Art resource kits from the St. Louis Art Museum
  • Parenting information and resources for new and questioning parents
  • Summer and winter reading clubs for children (readers and listeners ages birth to 12 years) and teens
  • Preschool storytimes to nurture a love of reading and build prereading skills
  • Toddler storytimes to introduce young children to the delights of rhythm, rhyme, fingerplays, and stories as a fun first step to reading motivation
  • Programs that provide hands-on opportunities for children to explore the world through books, activities, art, and more
  • Volunteer opportunities for children and teens (ages 12+)
