Have A Fangtastic Halloween With My Favorite Spooktacular Reads: Books I Like To Read Every Halloween Season

October 19, 2020 – Kayla Thompson, Adult Services Coordinator

Okay. So I am deeply sorry about the cheesy puns, but Halloween is my favorite time of the year and I couldn’t resist. I know that I have previously stated in one book talk or another about how I am all spooky all year, but Halloween is the time where I thrive. That being said, I like to revisit my favorite monster and mythical reads during this time of the year. And if you thought my puns were cheesy, wait until you see my reading list. Happy Month of Halloween! May you all get lots of candy and some ghoulish reads along the way.

Please note: some of these reads may not be available at the library, but we can try to borrow them for you through the interlibrary loan process.

1. Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schrieber (YA: eAudiobook on Libby)

2. Hearts at Stake by Alexandra Harvey (YA: eBook on Libby)

3. Sisters of Blood and Spirit by Kady Cross (YA)

4. Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice (Adult: eAudiobook on Libby)

5. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson (Adult: Print, eBook on Libby)

6. Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn (YA: eBook on Libby)

7. Moon Called by Patricia Briggs (Adult: eBook and eAudiobook on Libby)

8. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson (Adult: Print, eBook, and CD Audiobook)

9. Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman (Adult: Print, eBook, and eAudiobook)

10. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving (Adult: Print, eBook, eAudiobook)

There are a few others here and there that I like to revisit some years, but don’t get to others which include: Dracula (Adult: Print, eBook, eAudiobook), Frankenstein (Adult: Print & eBook), Vampirates (YA: eBook), The Mediator: Shadowland (YA), and The Last Vampire (Adult)…If you haven’t noticed I have a thing about vampire books.

And if none of these appeal to you, that is okay too. The library has a ton of great Halloween-themed and scary books to check out during this spooky season. We have the classics along with many titles from Stephen King and Joe Hill, and tons of thrillers and murder mysteries to keep your adrenaline pumping!

So come in and see us. Stick around to check out the stacks and have a safe and happy Halloween!
